Worms Prestige was created by Nicolas Worms in 2016 to explore in freedom the stylistic intersections created by his compositions. The ensemble is constantly transforming itself throughout the piece, exploring in the manner of a symphonic folding all the intervals between the chamber ensemble (piano, double bass, cello, bass clarinet) and the rock and blues band (bass, drums, saxophone, keyboards, voice). The ensemble is presently working on Nicolas Worms' creation "The Phantom Island" .
"The Phantom Island" is a scenic proposal for "music-fiction" as the composer defines his approach, which draws on different musical styles to create a dramaturgy where the mosaic of our world is told in sounds. Renewing with the dimension of "total art" of the opera, this show thwarts at the same time its codes, particularly by placing the instrumentalists on stage, and by using recorded voices, like ghosts haunting the stage. However, the physical absence of singer's body on the stage tells many other things , as evoked by the lyrics: the quest of identity, the pain of loss, the feeling of not recognising the faces of loved ones, the fantasies generated by a world of images without incarnations.
“The Phantom Island”, a poetic adventure, is also a formal and aesthetic proposal which invents in an indissociable way a music and a way to make it heard.
